• They first shared screen space in Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001), a comedy where Sunil played a conman and Mahima played his love interest. The film was a remake of a Malayalam hit, and the director cast them specifically because he wanted a pair that looked like they could bicker believably — not just romance.
• In Tere Pyaar Ki Kasam (2002), Sunil’s character was the loud, impulsive one while Mahima’s was the quiet, suffering wife. She later said in an interview that Sunil deliberately held back his usual energy in their emotional scenes so she could lead the pace — something he rarely did with other co-stars.
• During the shoot of LOC Kargil (2003), both were shooting in extreme cold in Ladakh.
