• They first met on the set of Hulchul (1995) because the director, K. Muralimohana Rao, needed a fresh pair for a comedy track. Neither was a star yet — Shetty had just done Balwaan, Warsi was still finding his footing after Tere Mere Sapne. The director literally threw them together in a room and told them to improvise a scene. That scene became the film's highlight.
• In Chocolate (2005), their dynamic flipped: Shetty played the intense cop, Warsi the comic sidekick. But Warsi kept improvising one-liners during Shetty's serious monologues. Shetty would break character and laugh, so the director started keeping the camera rolling. The final cut has three moments where Shetty is visibly holding back a smile — those are real, not scripted.
• During the disastrous Jaani Dushman (2002) shoot, the two shared a hotel room in Ooty because the budget was so tight. Warsi later said they survived on instant noodles and argued over who got the bathroom first every morning. They still joke about it — Shetty claims Warsi hogged the hot water.
• Arshad Warsi once said in an interview: 'Sunil and I have this unspoken rule — if the script is bad, we make sure our scenes together are so ridiculous that at least we have fun. That's how Jaani Dushman happened. We were laughing between takes. The audience wasn't, but we were.'
• Mr. White Mr. Black (2008) was the only film where they played actual brothers on screen. It was also the last time they worked together. The film's failure made both of them quietly decide to stop pairing up — not because of a fight, but because they felt the audience had moved on from their kind of buddy comedy. No producer has offered them a joint project since.
