• Revathi was already a star when RGV cast her in 'Rathri' (1992). He was a nobody fresh out of a film school. She took a risk on him because the script scared her — and she wanted to do something no other heroine would touch.
• On the sets of 'Gaayam' (1993), RGV would whisper the exact emotion he wanted in Revathi's ear just before the camera rolled. She didn't rehearse. She just reacted. That raw, unpolished energy became the signature of all three films.
• The success of 'Rathri' (1992) directly led to RGV making the Hindi version 'Raat' (1992) with Revathi again. That Hindi film became a cult horror classic and is still studied in film schools for its sound design. None of that happens if Revathi doesn't say yes first.
• After 'Gaayam' wrapped, Revathi and RGV didn't speak for nearly a decade. She later said she felt he changed after the success — became too arrogant. They only reconciled years later at a film festival, where he publicly thanked her for launching his career.
• RGV once said in an interview: 'Revathi was my lucky charm. She gave me the confidence to make the kind of cinema I wanted. Without her, I would have been just another assistant director.'
