• In Kranti (1981), Hema Malini and Nirupa Roy played mother and son — but Hema was only 13 years younger than Nirupa. The age gap was so tight that the director, Manoj Kumar, had to use heavy makeup and styling on Nirupa to sell the mother-son dynamic.
• Nirupa Roy once said in an interview that Hema Malini was the only co-star who would rehearse scenes with her even when the camera wasn't rolling. Hema would sit with her between takes and run lines, something Nirupa said she never got from other leading ladies.
• After Ramkali (1985) bombed hard, Hema Malini personally called Nirupa Roy to apologize for the film's failure — even though Hema wasn't the producer. Nirupa later told a trade magazine that Hema's call meant more to her than any hit film.
• Santosh (1989) was the only film where Hema Malini and Nirupa Roy played sisters-in-law — a dynamic that never repeated in any other Hindi film. The movie's family feud plot was later ripped off by a Bhojpuri film in 1995 called 'Maa Ka Aanchal'.
