• Soori was cast in Jilla (2014) because director Nesan wanted a fresh comic face to bounce off Mohanlal. Imman Annachi was already on board as the sidekick. The two had never shared screen time before — they met for the first time on set and instantly clicked during a tea break improv session.
• In Si3 (2017), Imman Annachi played the straight man to Soori's hyperactive sidekick. Soori would deliberately flub his lines to make Imman break character — and the director kept those takes because the natural laughter felt real. That's why their banter in the police station scene feels so loose.
• During Saamy II (2018) shoot, Soori and Imman Annachi shared a room in Tirunelveli for 45 days. They'd rehearse scenes at 2 AM after pack-up, rewriting dialogues in Tamil slang they picked up from local tea stalls. Neither of them told the director — they just showed up and delivered it.
• Soori said in a 2018 interview: 'Imman Annachi is the only actor who can make me laugh even when the camera isn't rolling. In Saamy II, I'd start crying with laughter before he even said his line. Hari sir had to yell at us twice.'
• Their double-act in Jilla (2014) was so well-received that director Hari specifically wrote the comic track in Saamy II (2018) around both of them — not as separate characters, but as a bonded duo. That film became a hit, and small-time comedians started pitching themselves as 'the next Soori-Imman pair' to producers.
