• Prakash Raj and Narayan first worked together on Payanam (2011), but the pairing almost didn't happen. Narayan was initially hesitant to cast Prakash Raj because he thought the actor's screen presence would overshadow the film's ensemble. Prakash Raj convinced him over a single phone call, saying he'd 'just stand where you tell me to stand.'
• On the set of Gaganam (2011), Narayan would deliberately give Prakash Raj minimal dialogue in key scenes. He knew Prakash Raj could say more with a pause than most actors could with a monologue. The result: Prakash Raj's silent reactions in the hijack sequence became the film's most talked-about moments.
