• Sonu Sood wasn't the first choice for Devi. Vijay originally wanted a bigger Bollywood name. Sonu heard about the script through a common friend, called Vijay directly, and said he'd do it for free if the role was good. Vijay gave him the part on that call.
• On the sets of Tutak Tutak Tutiya, Sonu would deliberately mess up his lines in Tamil to make the crew laugh. Vijay would then improvise a new reaction on the spot. That back-and-forth became the film's funniest scenes — none of them were in the script.
• After Devi 2 wrapped, Vijay gifted Sonu a custom-made director's chair with 'Sood Sir' embroidered on it. Sonu still keeps it in his Mumbai office. They haven't worked together since, but they text each other every Diwali without fail.
• Sonu Sood once said in an interview: 'Vijay sir is the only director who made me act like a clown and a hero in the same scene. I trusted him blindly because he never let me look stupid — just funny.'
• The success of Devi 2 in 2019 directly led to Vijay greenlighting a third film in the franchise. But Sonu couldn't join due to scheduling conflicts. That third film never got made. The franchise died because these two couldn't sync calendars again.
• In Abhinetri, Vijay shot all of Sonu's scenes in one continuous 10-day block. Sonu had to switch between three different costumes and two accents per day. Vijay later admitted he did that because Sonu was the only actor who could keep the energy consistent without retakes.
