• Janagaraj was a struggling mimicry artist when Pandian spotted him at a stage show. Pandian insisted the director of Mann Vasanai (1983) cast him as the comic sidekick — that film put both their careers on the map.
• In Pudhumai Penn (1984), Pandian deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery to match Janagaraj's rapid-fire timing. The mismatch became their signature — audiences loved how Pandian's straight man set up Janagaraj's punchlines.
