• Meenakshi Seshadri was the bigger star when they first paired up for 'Bade Ghar Ki Beti' (1989). Raj Kiran was cast opposite her after the director saw him in a small role in 'Aaj Ka Daur' — he wasn't the first choice, but Meenakshi reportedly pushed for him because she wanted a co-star who wouldn't overshadow her.
• In 'Ghar Ho To Aisa' (1990), Raj Kiran played the comic relief while Meenakshi handled the emotional beats. She later said in an interview that he made her laugh so much on set that she kept breaking character — and the director kept those takes because they looked more natural.
• During the shoot of 'Ghar Parivar' (1991), Raj Kiran would drive Meenakshi home every night because she was scared of the dark studio parking lot. They stayed friends after the films ended, but lost touch when he quit acting in the mid-90s.
• Raj Kiran once told a trade magazine: 'Meenakshi was the only heroine who didn't treat me like a junior artist. She'd rehearse lines with me even when the director said we were fine.'
• Their third film 'Ghar Parivar' (1991) was the only one of the three to get a theatrical release outside India — it played in Fiji and Mauritius, where both actors had a small but loyal fanbase. That overseas run led to Meenakshi being invited to perform at a Diwali show in Port Louis the same year.
