• Parthiban cast Soori in 'James Pandu' (2000) after seeing him in a small stage play. Soori was so nervous on the first day that Parthiban had to sit him down and feed him tea before every take.
• In 'Maaveeran Kittu' (2016), Parthiban deliberately slowed down his own dialogue delivery to match Soori's natural rhythm. He told the crew, 'Let him set the pace — I'll follow.' That film became the only one where Soori's comic timing actually led the scenes.
• After 'Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam' (2017) flopped, Soori called Parthiban and apologized for not being able to 'save the film.' Parthiban replied, 'You didn't fail. I wrote a weak script. We'll fix it next time.' They haven't worked together since.
