They met for the first time at a coffee shop in Pune to read the script. Kay Kay later said he knew within five minutes that she was the only one who could play his wife.
• In 'Sirf' (2008), Kay Kay played a cold, calculating businessman. Sonali played his wife who slowly breaks his shell. The key scene — where she confronts him about his loneliness — was shot in one take. Kay Kay later admitted that Sonali's emotional rawness in that moment made him forget his lines for a second. He had to look away to stay in character.
