• Suriya and Charlie first met on the set of 'Friends' (2001) because the director Siddique wanted a fresh comic duo. Charlie was already a popular mimicry artist on TV, and Suriya was still finding his footing. They clicked so fast during the first reading that Siddique rewrote scenes to give them more screen time together.
• In 'Vel' (2007), Charlie’s rapid-fire comic timing forced Suriya to slow down his own delivery. Suriya later admitted in an interview that Charlie’s rhythm was so unique he had to unlearn his usual pace to match it — and that made their banter feel more natural.
• During the shoot of 'Unnai Ninaithu' (2002), Charlie would drive Suriya home every night because Suriya didn’t own a car yet. They’d stop at the same tea stall near Vadapalani and talk about comedy for hours. That stall owner still remembers them as 'the two boys who laughed too loud.'
• The success of their comic track in '24' (2016) directly inspired director Vikram Kumar to cast Charlie as a full-fledged comedic lead in his next film, 'Hello' (2017). Without their chemistry in '24', Charlie might never have transitioned from sidekick to lead.
• Suriya once said about Charlie: 'He doesn't just deliver lines — he listens to my pauses. That's why our scenes feel like a conversation, not a performance.' He said this during a promotional event for '24' in 2016.
