Partnership facts

• Tabu and Govinda first worked together in 'Saajan Chale Sasural' (1996) because Tabu was the only leading lady who said yes to a film where Govinda played a married man chasing two other women. Other actresses turned it down, worried about playing second fiddle to his on-screen wife.
• In 'Shikari' (2000), Govinda played a double role — one a goofy guy, the other a serious cop. Tabu had to match his energy in the comic scenes and then switch to dead-serious in the cop scenes. She later said Govinda's timing forced her to stay on her toes because he never did the same take twice.
• During the shoot of 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa' (2001), Govinda would crack jokes between takes to make Tabu laugh — and she'd often break character. The director, K. Raghavendra Rao, had to call 'cut' multiple times because Tabu couldn't stop giggling at Govinda's improvised one-liners.
• Tabu once said in an interview: 'Govinda is the only co-star who can make me forget my lines because I'm laughing so hard. He's a live wire — you never know what he'll do next.'
• Their fourth and final film together, 'Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya' (2001), was a remake of a Tamil hit. But the pairing was so mismatched — Tabu's serious acting style vs Govinda's over-the-top comedy — that the film flopped hard. After that, no producer cast them together again for over two decades.
