Vasu, specifically wanted a seasoned actress to play the mother role opposite Brahmanandam's comic lead. Janaki, already a legend in Tamil and Telugu, agreed only after Brahmanandam personally called her and said, 'Amma, nenu unna, bayapadakandi' (I'm here, don't worry).
