• Ravi Babu was still an assistant director when he cast Chalapathi Rao in his directorial debut Allari (2002). He later said he needed a senior actor who could anchor the comedy without stealing the spotlight from the young lead.
• In Madhumasam (2007), Chalapathi Rao played the hero's father — but Ravi Babu deliberately wrote him as the one character who doesn't get a single joke. He wanted Rao to ground the film's emotional weight while everyone else went broad.
• Between Allari and Madhumasam, Chalapathi Rao didn't just act for Ravi Babu — he also helped him cast junior artists for free. Ravi Babu was on a tight budget, and Rao used his contacts to pull in experienced extras without charging a commission.
