• Director SJ Suryah cast Anjali and Kaali Venkat together in Kalakalappu (2012) after seeing them in separate comedy roles. He wanted two actors who could trade insults without looking like they were acting. Anjali later said Suryah paired them specifically because both had 'natural timing that can't be taught.'
• In Iraivi (2016), Anjali and Kaali Venkat played a married couple whose fights felt uncomfortably real. Kaali Venkat later revealed that director Karthik Subbaraj made them rehearse each argument scene for two hours straight without cuts — no pauses, no retakes — until their voices went hoarse. The final takes used the raw exhaustion.
• Their bickering-couple act in Kalakalappu (2012) directly inspired the comedy track in the 2014 hit 'Jigarthanda' — director Karthik Subbaraj admitted he wrote the husband-wife dynamic in that film after watching their Kalakalappu scenes. He then cast them together in Iraivi two years later.
• On the sets of Mapla Singam (2016), Anjali and Kaali Venkat had a running bet: whoever flubbed a line first had to buy the entire crew filter coffee. Kaali Venkat lost every single day. By the end of the shoot, he had spent nearly ₹15,000 on coffee. Anjali still teases him about it.
