• Muthaiah was a stunt choreographer before turning director. He cast Namo Narayana as the villain in Kutti Puli (2013) because he needed someone who could match the hero's physicality in fight scenes — and Namo was the only actor who showed up to the audition with his own fight moves choreographed.
• On the sets of Komban (2015), Muthaiah would block the action sequences first, then let Namo Narayana improvise his dialogue delivery during the emotional confrontations. Namo's natural timing made the villain feel less cartoonish and more grounded — a shift Muthaiah kept for all three films.
• During the shoot of Marudhu (2016), Namo Narayana fractured his wrist while performing a stunt. Muthaiah personally drove him to the hospital and then rewrote the climax to accommodate the injury — the final fight was shot with Namo using only one hand.
• Namo Narayana once said in an interview: 'Muthaiah doesn't just direct you — he fights alongside you in the frame. He knows exactly where the punch should land because he's taken those hits himself.'
• The success of Komban (2015) directly led to Muthaiah being offered his next big project, Devarattam (2019), which launched a new hero. Namo Narayana's performance as the antagonist in Komban became a reference point for how to write a layered village villain in Tamil cinema — several later films copied the 'silent, brooding antagonist' template.
