• Sundar C. cast Crane Manohar in Unakkaga Ellam Unakkaga (1999) after seeing him as a stunt coordinator on another set. Manohar had never acted a proper role before. Sundar took a chance on him because he needed someone who could move naturally in action scenes without looking stiff.
• On the set of Winner (2003), Sundar C. would block the comedy scenes first, then let Manohar improvise his lines. Manohar’s timing was so sharp that Sundar started writing extra scenes just for him during the shoot. The film’s funniest moments were all Manohar’s ad-libs.
• Rendu (2006) was the first Tamil film where Crane Manohar got a dedicated comedy track that ran parallel to the hero’s story. That structure — a separate comic subplot with its own arc — became a template Sundar C. reused in later films like Nagaram (2010).

• Crane Manohar told a local magazine in 2007: 'Sundar sir never laughed at my jokes on set. He would just nod and say 'okay, next scene.' I thought he hated my work. Then I saw the audience reaction in theatres. That’s when I understood — he was saving his laugh for the crowd.'
