• Kaali Venkat was a theatre actor with zero film experience when Dhanush personally recommended him for Maari (2015). The director Balaji Mohan was hesitant, but Dhanush insisted after watching Venkat's stage play.
• In Kodi (2016), Dhanush played a double role — one soft, one aggressive. Kaali Venkat played his friend in both tracks. On set, Venkat would quietly adjust his performance to match whichever Dhanush was in front of him, helping the audience tell the two characters apart without any visual cue.
