• Director Rajkumar Kohli cast Manoj Joshi and Murli Sharma together in 'Chal Chala Chal' (2009) because he wanted two actors who could switch between comedy and menace without missing a beat. He told them both on set: 'You two look like you've been fighting each other for years.'
• In 'Chor Bazaari' (2015), Murli Sharma would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Manoj Joshi laugh. Joshi then started doing the same back. The director kept the best of those botched takes because the laughter felt real.
• The only hit among their four films together — 'Mr Black Mr White' (2019) — was a sleeper success in small-town Uttar Pradesh. It directly inspired a local Bhojpuri remake titled 'Kala Gora' in 2021, which cast two real-life brothers in their roles.
