Rai originally wrote Swara's role as a minor part with no interaction with Sonam's character. Swara pushed for a rewrite, and got that iconic 'Bindiya' scene where she confronts Sonam's character — that was entirely her idea.
• In Veere Di Wedding (2018), Sonam and Swara deliberately swapped their usual screen personas. Sonam — known for playing polished, glamorous characters — leaned into messy, vulnerable comedy. Swara — usually the intense, dramatic actor — became the loud, chaotic friend. They both said this switch made their scenes crackle because neither was in their comfort zone.
• Their on-screen friendship in Veere Di Wedding directly inspired the casting of the 2021 web series 'The Married Woman' — the show's creator said she wanted the same 'unfiltered, real female bond' that Sonam and Swara had, and cast two relatively unknown actors to recreate that energy.
• During the shooting of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), Sonam and Swara shared a vanity van because the set was crowded. They spent hours every day dissecting Salman Khan's acting style — both found it hilarious that he never rehearsed. They still text each other 'Salman mode' whenever one of them has to shoot a scene without prep.
