• Director Ponram didn't plan to cast Soori as the sidekick in Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. He wrote the role for a different comedian. Soori auditioned anyway and made Ponram laugh so hard during the reading that he rewrote the character to give him more lines.
• In Rajini Murugan, Soori's character was supposed to just react to Sivakarthikeyan's jokes. But on set, Soori started improvising one-liners between takes. Ponram kept those in the final cut. That film became the highest-grossing of their three collaborations.
• The 'Karikalan Kattabomman' comedy track from Seemaraja — where Soori plays a village simpleton who keeps mispronouncing names — became a meme template in Tamil social media for years after the film's release. It's still used in WhatsApp forwards.
• Ponram and Soori share the same hometown — Rajapalayam. During the shoot of Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, they'd eat at the same local mess every evening and discuss which village characters from their childhood should go into the next scene.
• Ponram once said in an interview: 'Soori doesn't just deliver lines. He listens to the other actor's dialogue and then finds the exact pause to break the joke. That's why I never gave him a bound script — I just told him the situation and let him find the comedy.'
