• Kirti Kumar was the one who brought Govinda into 'Hatya' (1988) — he was already a star, but he personally pushed for Govinda as the lead. That film became Govinda's first solo hit and launched him as a mainstream hero.
• In 'Awaargi' (1990), Kirti Kumar deliberately slowed down Govinda's usual manic energy. He made him hold back in emotional scenes, which gave Govinda his first real dramatic performance — critics noticed he could actually act.
• Kirti Kumar and Govinda were close friends off-screen. During the shoot of 'Radha Ka Sangam' (1991), Govinda would crash at Kirti's house for days, and they'd rehearse dialogues late into the night — no one else was allowed in the room.
• The success of 'Hatya' (1988) directly led to Kirti Kumar casting Govinda in 'Awaargi' (1990), which then inspired a wave of 'angry young man' roles for Govinda — a shift from his earlier comic image. Without Kirti, Govinda might never have done 'Awaargi'.
