• Shaam was not Surender Reddy's first choice for 'Kick' (2009). The director wanted a bigger star, but Shaam auditioned with a raw intensity that made Reddy scrap his original casting plan on the spot.
• On 'Oosaravelli' (2011), Surender Reddy let Shaam rewrite his own dialogue in Telugu. Shaam, a Tamil actor, would run lines with the spot boys to nail the local slang — and Reddy kept those takes in the final cut.
• For 'Race Gurram' (2014), Reddy built the entire second-half chase sequence around Shaam's ability to do his own stunts. Shaam refused a body double for the bike jump over a moving train — that shot is all him.
• The success of 'Kick' (2009) directly convinced producer Nallamalupu Bujji to back Surender Reddy's next film — which became the blockbuster 'Race Gurram'. Without Shaam's performance in 'Kick', that film might never have been greenlit.
• Shaam and Surender Reddy never had a formal contract for any of their three films. They shook hands on each project. Shaam once said, 'If Reddy calls, I don't ask for a script. I just show up.'
• Surender Reddy told a Hyderabad press meet in 2014: 'Shaam is the only actor who made me rewrite my climax twice. He kept saying, 'This fight needs more heart.' He was right both times.'
