• In Krodhi (1981), Dharmendra played a violent cop and Shashi Kapoor played a soft-hearted doctor. The director said he cast them specifically to flip their usual images — Dharmendra had to hold back his action, Shashi had to stay calm under pressure. They made each other uncomfortable on purpose, and that tension is what made the film work.
• Shashi Kapoor once admitted in an interview that he and Dharmendra never really hung out off-set. They were polite, professional, and shot their scenes efficiently — then went their separate ways. No fights, no friendship, just two pros clocking in.
• Akhri Muqabla (1988) was originally offered to Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha. Both passed. The producer then called Dharmendra and Shashi as a last-minute backup pair. They shot the entire film in 22 days on a single set in Ooty.
• Aag Ka Toofan (1993) was the last film Shashi Kapoor ever acted in as a lead. After this, he only did supporting roles or cameos. Dharmendra didn't know that when they signed it — he found out years later and said he wished he'd made the shoot more memorable for Shashi.
