• Jeetendra was the one who insisted on casting Waheeda Rehman as his mother in 'Jyoti Bane Jwala' (1980). She was only 9 years older than him, but he pushed for the pairing because he wanted an actress with gravitas for the emotional weight of the role.
• In 'Himmatwala' (1983), Waheeda played Jeetendra's mother while also being the mother of his love interest Sridevi. That meant she had to shift her on-screen dynamic with Jeetendra from maternal warmth to comic exasperation — and she did it without missing a beat, often improvising the exasperated looks that made the scenes land.
