• Waheeda Rehman was the first choice for the female lead in Mr. Natwarlal (1979), but she initially turned it down because she didn't want to play a dancer opposite a much younger Amitabh Bachchan. Director Rakesh Roshan convinced her by rewriting the role to give her more dramatic weight.
• In Mahaan (1983), Amjad Khan played a double role — one a villain, one a comic sidekick. Waheeda Rehman played his love interest in the comic track. She later said she had to constantly remind him to stop being menacing on set because he'd slip into his 'Gabbar' voice even during romantic scenes.
• Their pairing in Himmatwala (1983) was the only time Waheeda Rehman played a mother to a hero (Jeetendra) while Amjad Khan played the villain. That film's success directly led to a wave of 'mother-son' revenge dramas in the mid-80s, like Maa Beti and Maa Kasam.
• On the sets of Dharam Kanta (1982), Amjad Khan would often cook biryani for the entire crew. Waheeda Rehman later revealed that he insisted she taste his biryani before every scene they shot together — it became their pre-shot ritual.
