• Samir Karnik cast Prateeksha Lonkar in 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' (2007) after seeing her in a Marathi play. He later said he needed someone who could cry on cue without glycerin — she did it in one take.
• On the set of 'Heroes' (2008), Karnik let Lonkar improvise her dialogue in a key emotional scene. She changed the line to a local Marwari phrase — he kept it in the final cut because it made the moment feel real.
