• For Marina (2012), director Pandiraj cast Sathish and Ramesh Thilak together for the first time after seeing them perform together in a stage play. He told them he wanted that exact live-wire energy on screen.
• In Kanam (2022), Sathish played the straight man to Ramesh Thilak's comic relief. But on set, they swapped roles between takes — Sathish would feed Ramesh improvised punchlines, and Ramesh would test new reactions on Sathish before the director called action.
• After Marina released, both actors were broke and living in the same Chennai PG. They shared a single phone for audition calls for two years. Ramesh Thilak once said in an interview that they'd take turns wearing the only good shirt they owned to meetings.
• Ramesh Thilak told a podcast in 2023: 'Sathish and I don't need to rehearse. We just look at each other and know who's going to mess up the line first. That's our rhythm.'
