• Sathish and Karunakaran first met on the set of Parandhu Sella Vaa (2016) — but they almost didn't. The director wanted two completely different actors for the lead roles. Both Sathish and Karunakaran auditioned separately, and the casting director paired them on a whim during a chemistry read. That read got them the parts.
• In GajiniKanth (2018), Sathish played the straight man while Karunakaran did all the physical comedy. But here's the trick: Sathish would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Karunakaran laugh, which loosened him up for the actual take. Karunakaran has said that Sathish's 'fake mistakes' were his secret warm-up routine.
• GajiniKanth (2018) was a surprise hit despite its 3.6 rating — and it directly led to a wave of 'memory-loss comedy' films in Tamil cinema over the next two years.
