• In Katha Nayagan (2017), Soori played Saranya's son. The director cast Soori specifically because he wanted a comedian to handle the emotional mother-son scenes — and Soori's real-life closeness with his own mother convinced Saranya to sign the film.
• On the sets of Viruman (2022), Saranya would deliberately flub her lines in the first take to make Soori laugh. She said it loosened him up for the heavier emotional scenes that followed. He returned the favour by improvising comic relief during her crying scenes.
• Between Katha Nayagan and Etharkkum Thunindhavan, Saranya and Soori didn't speak for nearly two years. Reason: a misunderstanding over a missed birthday party. They only patched up when director Pandiraj locked them in a room during Viruman pre-production.
