Khamosh Pani(2004)
Khamosh Pani is a 2003 Indo-Pakistani drama film directed by Sabiha Sumar. The film stars Kirron Kher, Aamir Ali Malik, and Shilpa Shukla. Set in a Punjabi village in Pakistan during 1979, the story follows Ayesha, a widowed Quran teacher whose hidden Sikh identity is exposed. The narrative intertwines the trauma of the 1947 Partition with the rise of religious extremism under General Zia-ul-Haq. The film won the Golden Leopard for Best Film at the Locarno International Film Festival. Kirron Kher also won the Best Actress award at the same festival. The film was released in Pakistan on 8 October 2004.

Storyline
Ayesha is a widowed mother living a quiet life in a Pakistani village. She teaches the Quran and avoids the village well. Her teenage son Saleem falls under the influence of religious extremists. When Sikh pilgrims arrive from India, one of them recognizes Ayesha. Her secret past as a Sikh woman from 1947 is revealed. The revelation tears her family and her life apart.
