Hyderabad Blues(1998)
Hyderabad Blues is a 1998 Indian drama film written, directed, and produced by Nagesh Kukunoor. The cast includes Nagesh Kukunoor, Rajashree, Elahe Hiptoola, Vikram Inamdar, and D V Ramana. The story follows Varun Naidu, an Indian-American engineer who returns to Hyderabad after 12 years in the United States and experiences severe culture shock. He struggles to reconnect with his family, adapt to local customs, and pursue a relationship with a traditional doctor named Ashwini. The film was made on a budget of Rs. 17 lakhs and shot in 17 days entirely in Hyderabad. It won the Audience Award for Best Film at the Peachtree International Film Festival and the Rhode Island International Film Festival. The film is considered a landmark of independent Indian cinema and was followed by a sequel in 2004.
