Trivia
- The film is a remake of the 1995 Tamil movie 'Muthu', which itself was a remake of the 1991 Malayalam film 'Kappela'.
- This was one of the few Hindi films where actor Arvind Swamy, known for his Tamil roles, played the lead character.
- Director Priyadarshan and actor Anupam Kher collaborated on this film after their successful comedy 'Hera Pheri' two years later.
- The bullock cart race scenes were filmed in rural Maharashtra to capture authentic village settings and traditions.
- Despite having popular actors, the movie did not perform well at the box office compared to Priyadarshan's comedies.
- The soundtrack was composed by Anu Malik, who was known for many hit songs in the 1990s.
- Actress Farida Jalal, who played the tragic mother, was often cast in motherly roles during this period of her career.
