Trivia

  • The film's director, K. Ravi Shankar, was primarily known as a cinematographer and shot many South Indian films before directing this movie.
  • Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who plays the lead, performed his own stunts for several action sequences in the docks.
  • The movie's soundtrack, composed by Bappi Lahiri, included a song that was a remake of one of his own earlier Bengali compositions.
  • The role of the blind daughter, Munni, was played by a child actor who later left the film industry and did not act in many other movies.
  • Parts of the film were shot on location at actual docks, which was uncommon for Hindi films at that time due to logistical challenges.
  • The film's title, 'Apradhi', meaning 'criminal', was also the title of a different, more famous 1974 Hindi film starring Shashi Kapoor.
  • Despite being an action drama, the movie included a social message about corruption and the struggles of honest, low-income government employees.
