
Roja(1992)
Roja is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language romantic thriller film directed and co-written by Mani Ratnam. The film stars Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in lead roles. The story follows a young village woman from Tamil Nadu who fights to rescue her husband after he is kidnapped by Kashmiri militants during a secret mission. The film was produced by K. Balachander under Kavithalayaa Productions. It marked the debut of composer A. R. Rahman, who won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Roja won three National Film Awards, including the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. It was nominated for Best Film at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival. The film released on 15 August 1992, India's Independence Day.

Storyline
A simple village girl named Roja marries Rishi Kumar, a cryptologist working for Indian intelligence. Their happy life shatters when Rishi is kidnapped by Kashmiri militants who want to exchange him for their captured leader. Roja must fight alone against a system that does not understand her language to save the man she loves.
