Two childhood friends become bitter enemies and divide their land, swearing to kill anyone who crosses the boundary. Years later, their grandchildren fall in love, reigniting the old feud. Trivia

  • The film was originally planned to star Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan, but they were replaced by Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar.
  • The iconic 'Teri Mohabbat' song was filmed in Ooty, but the waterfall scene used a specially constructed set in a Mumbai studio.
  • This was the only time veteran actors Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar shared the screen together in their long careers.
  • The film's climax was shot at the real-life Mahabaleshwar temple, not on a set, adding to the dramatic feel.
  • Despite mixed reviews, the movie was a major box office hit and celebrated a silver jubilee, running in theaters for over 25 weeks.
  • Actress Manisha Koirala made her Bollywood debut with this film, playing a key supporting role.
  • The famous 'lathi' (stick) fight between the two leads was choreographed without stunt doubles, with the actors performing most moves themselves.
