The story follows a petty thief who impersonates his lookalike, a communist activist, to lead a rebellion by farmers against a corporate entrepreneur who stole their water resources. The film explores themes of corporate greed, water scarcity, and farmer suicides. Produced by Lyca Productions on a budget of ₹50 crore, *Kaththi* was released on 22 October 2014 during Diwali. It received critical acclaim and grossed over ₹128 crore worldwide, becoming the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2014. Storyline

A small-time thief named Kathiresan escapes from prison and meets his exact double, a wounded activist named Jeevanandham. He decides to impersonate Jeeva to hide from the police. But when he learns about Jeeva's fight against a greedy corporation that stole water from his village, Kathir must choose between his own freedom and saving an entire community.
