Amma Kanakku (transl. Mother's calculations) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language comedy-drama film directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. It stars Amala Paul, Revathi, Yuva Lakshmi, and Samuthirakani. The story follows Shanti, a widowed maid who re-enrolls in school to motivate her disinterested daughter Abhinaya. The film explores themes of education, sacrifice, and the bond between a mother and daughter. It is a remake of Tiwari's own Hindi film Nil Battey Sannata (2015). Storyline
A widowed maid named Shanti is heartbroken when her teenage daughter Abhinaya says she wants to be a maid too. To change her daughter's mind, Shanti goes back to school herself. She joins the same class as Abhinaya and challenges her to study harder. But Abhinaya resists, leading to a emotional battle of wills.
