Teertha Karainelay is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Manivannan. The film stars Mohan and Rupini in lead roles, with Gandhimathi, Senthil, and Janagaraj in supporting parts. The story follows Ganesan, an unemployed man who agrees to impersonate a dying tuberculosis patient named Raghu in his native village. Ganesan must navigate family secrets, greedy relatives, and a forbidden romance with Pooncholai, the sister of a boy Raghu accidentally killed. The film explores themes of guilt, redemption, and chosen family. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, with the title song set to the raga Shubhapantuvarali. The Indian Express praised the film as 'well told' and highlighted Gandhimathi's performance. It was released on 11 September 1987 and later remade in Telugu as Varasudochadu.

Storyline
