
Chinna Veedu(1985)
Chinna Veedu is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj. The film stars Bhagyaraj as Madanagopal and introduces Kalpana in her Tamil debut as Bhagyalakshmi. Set in Coimbatore in 1983, the story follows a young man who dreams of a beautiful wife but is forced into an arranged marriage with a woman he finds unattractive. His cruelty and infidelity lead him into a dangerous trap set by a prostitute. The film was noted for its honest portrayal of body shaming and marital conflict. It was a commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres. The music by Ilaiyaraaja remains popular, with the song 'Chittu Kuruvi' later sampled by international artists.
