Puthukavithai is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by S. P. Muthuraman. The film stars Rajinikanth as Anand, a motorcycle champion, and Jyothi as Uma, the daughter of a wealthy mother. The story follows their love affair, which is destroyed by Uma's mother Thilakavathy, who forces her into a marriage with a rich man. Years later, Anand and Uma meet again, forcing them to confront their unresolved feelings. The film is noted for its realistic portrayal of love and sacrifice, and for Ilaiyaraaja's acclaimed music. Storyline
