Dhoorathu Idi Muzhakkam is a 1980 Indian Tamil-language drama film produced and directed by K. Vijayan. The film stars Vijayakanth and debutante Poornima Devi in lead roles, with Peeli Sivam and Suruli Rajan in supporting parts. Set in a fishing community, the story follows a woman torn between her love and her husband. The film is noted for its realistic portrayal of village life, with actors wearing no makeup. It was screened at the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India in 1981. The music was composed by Salil Chowdhury, who used real sea wave sounds. The film had a delayed release, hitting theaters a year after being censored in December 1979.

Storyline
A young fisherman named Ponnan falls in love with Chelli, a potter's daughter. But Chelli's jealous uncle Maari wants her for himself. After Ponnan is believed dead, Chelli is forced to marry Maari. When Ponnan returns alive, he must decide between reclaiming his love or protecting her new life.
