Achani(1978)
Achchani (1978) is a Tamil-language drama film directed by Karaikudi Narayanan, marking his directorial debut. The film stars Muthuraman, Lakshmi, and Ashokan in lead roles. The story follows a proud husband whose arrogance leads to the loss of his job, home, and family. Set in a rural Tamil village, the narrative explores themes of pride, redemption, and family sacrifice. The film is based on Narayanan's own stage play of the same name, which was previously adapted into Malayalam in 1973. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, with the song 'Maatha Un Kovilil' later reused in Naan Kadavul (2009). Achchani was released on 4 February 1978 and became a commercial success.
