Lalitha(1976)
Lalitha is a 1976 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Valampuri Somanathan. The film stars Sujatha in the title role, with Gemini Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, and Sumithra in supporting roles. It follows a wealthy woman who marries a poor professor against her mother's wishes, leading to family conflict and a painful separation. The film is a remake of the Bengali film Saat Pake Bandha (1963). It marked the first on-screen pairing of Gemini Ganesan and Sujatha. The soundtrack was composed by M. S. Viswanathan with lyrics by Kannadasan. The film was released on 10 December 1976 under the production banner Girnar Films.

Storyline
A rich woman named Lalitha marries a poor professor named Shankar despite her mother's objections. Her mother constantly humiliates Shankar, leading to a fight that causes the couple to separate. When Lalitha tries to reunite with him, she discovers he has disappeared. The story follows her long search to find him and rebuild their marriage.
