Manam Oru Kurangu(1967)
'Manam Oru Kurangu' is a 1967 Indian Tamil-language satirical film directed by A. T. Krishnaswamy. It stars Cho Ramaswamy, R. Muthuraman, T. S. Balaiah, A. V. M. Rajan, K. R. Vijaya, and Vijayarani. The story follows Maruthayi, a village vegetable seller who becomes a famous actress named Mallika Devi after being discovered by a wealthy socialite. She leaves behind her farmer lover Murugesa and enters the glamorous but empty world of cinema. The film is based on a play by Cho Ramaswamy, which was inspired by George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion'. It exposes the snobbish values of society and the loneliness that comes with chasing fame. The soundtrack was composed by D. B. Ramachandran, with the title song becoming highly popular. The film was released on 14 January 1967 during Pongal and was a commercial success.

Storyline
