'Andha Naal' is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language mystery thriller film directed by S. Balachander and produced by A. V. Meiyappan under AVM Productions. The cast includes Sivaji Ganesan as Rajan, Pandari Bai as Usha, Javar Seetharaman as C.I.D. Officer Sivanandam, P. D. Sambandam as Chinnaiya Pillai, T. K. Balachandran as Pattabi, and K. Sooryakala as Ambujam. Set during World War II, the story follows the investigation into the murder of a radio engineer who is suspected of being a traitor. The film is notable as the first Tamil film without songs, dances, or stunt sequences, and as the first film noir in Tamil cinema. It won the Certificate of Merit for Second Best Feature Film in Tamil at the 2nd National Film Awards in 1955. Despite initial commercial failure, it has since gained cult status. The film was released on 13 April 1954, on the eve of Tamil New Year.
