
Parthiban Kanavu(1960)
Parthiban Kanavu is a 1960 Indian Tamil-language historical fiction film directed by D. Yoganand. It stars Gemini Ganesan as Vikraman and Vyjayanthimala as Kundhavi, with S. V. Ranga Rao playing the Pallava king Narasimhavarman. The story is set in the 7th century and follows a Chola prince's quest to fulfill his father's dream of independence from Pallava rule. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1942 novel of the same name. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil at the 8th National Film Awards. The film was released on 3 June 1960 and was later dubbed into Telugu as Veera Samrajyam.

Storyline
A Chola prince named Vikraman promises his dying father that he will free their kingdom from the Pallava empire. He is captured and exiled by the Pallava king Narasimhavarman. But a mysterious sage keeps helping him. Vikraman must fight, love, and make impossible choices to turn his father's dream into reality.
