→Trivia
- The film's title 'Nishaan' means 'sign' or 'mark' in Hindi, hinting at the separated family's search for identity.
- Sikandar Khanna, the director, is the father of actor Akshaye Khanna, though this was one of his few directorial works.
- Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who played Shankar, performed his own stunts for many of the film's action sequences.
- The movie features a cameo by veteran actor Pran in a special appearance, which was a promotional highlight.
- It was partly shot in picturesque locations in Himachal Pradesh, which was uncommon for mainstream films at the time.
- The soundtrack by R.D. Burman included a hit song 'Jeevan Ke Din' sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
- Despite its star cast, the film did not perform well at the box office upon its initial release.
