• Amrish Puri was already a theatre heavyweight when Jeetendra personally requested him for Nishaan (1983). Jeetendra wanted a villain who could match his own energy in the climax fight — and Puri agreed only after Jeetendra promised him a role with actual dialogue, not just growls.
• In Yeh Desh (1984), Jeetendra deliberately slowed down his usual fast-talking style during their confrontation scene because Puri's baritone needed space to land. Jeetendra later told a trade magazine that Puri taught him 'the power of a pause' in a masala film.
• During the shoot of Zakhmi Sher (1984), Puri and Jeetendra shared a room in a small Ooty hotel because the production ran out of budget. They spent nights discussing theatre versus commercial cinema — and Puri convinced Jeetendra to watch a Marathi play the following year.
• Jeetendra once said in a 1985 interview: 'Amrish ji would finish his shot and then stand behind the monitor to watch mine. He never left the set. That's when I knew he wasn't just a villain — he was a co-actor who cared about the whole film.'
• The fight choreography between Puri and Jeetendra in Nishaan (1983) was so raw that it inspired a young fight master named Veeru Devgan to try a similar 'no-music, only grunts' approach in his later films. Devgan mentioned this in a 1990s interview.
